- About Beauty Evolution -

Beauty evolution is a permanent make up studio based in Durbanville.

My name is Alisen Grossmann I am a qualified Somatologist and permanent make-up artist. Over the years, working in skincare, I often found myself leaning towards treatments that had the most profound impact on clients. I personally love to see change and I love to see an improvement with each result, along with a happy client. As women, we constantly evolve and there is no better feeling than walking out of a salon and feeling like a million bucks. I found my passion in permanent make-up and saw the value that small changes can bring, not only to a client’s face but to her whole lifestyle and confidence!

I named the studio “Beauty Evolution” as the evolvement of each client that walks in the studio is the prize, and permanent make-up is my absolute obsession. I believe in the “less is more” approach and natural results along with balance to the face is key. I strive to properly understand clients’ needs and give them the best possible results that they can attain from permanent make-up.

- Frequently Asked Questions -

DOES IT HURT?

This is the number one question aside from the cost and can be explained in the following way.

Everyone has a different pain threshold and tolerance , the pain factor is depended on :

  • How sensitive the skin is
  • Your own pain tolerance
  • How nervous you are about the procedure
  • If you have your period ( you will be more sensitive during your cycle)
  • Topical anesthetics used before and during the procedure ( different artists use different anaesthetics )

I use a very good topical numbing that contains 5% lidocaine to alleviate any sensation of discomfort , this is applied for 20 to 30 min before we start , during the treatment a secondary numbing is also applied which further numbs the area very well, very few clients experience discomfort . Remember permanent make up is done very superficially

( but at the right depth )

WILL I BE SWOLLEN? / IS THERE DOWNTIME?

The brow area: Microblading/Powder/Ombré/Nano/Combination

You will not be swollen after having your brows done, mild redness is normal and will subside within a hour . Most clients go back to work as per usual.

The eye area: Eyeliner

The eye area can swell after the eyeliner has been done, this can range from non visible ,very mild to a puffy eye look ( looks like you have had a good cry) the swelling depends largely on how your skin reacts , the type of eyeliner that was done and the amount of passes done to ensure your skin receives the right amount of pigment.

The lip area: Lip blush

The lip area will be mildly swollen and full of color after your procedure, this will subside in a day or two.

WILL I NEED A TOUCH UP?

Yes absolutely! A touch up is a paramount step to complete the process . Permanent make up is a 2-step process, the touch up is often called the perfecting session, it also ensures color longevity. Pls see why a touch up is vital/healing process.

Permanent make up is done on the top layer of the skin with specifically manufactured pigment for the facial area. The top layer of the skin is constantly regenerating itself thus the process of permanent make up requires a touch-up.

IS PERMANENT MAKE UP SAFE?

Yes, when done at a reputable trained artist permanent make up is safe. Permanent make up artist are required to take a annual blood Bourne pathogens test and are trained under strict protocols, one use only supplies are used.

HOW LONG DOES THE PMU PROCEDURE TAKE?

Allow yourself a 3 hour window for your appointment, it is unlikely that it will take that long but it is not a procedure you want to rush.

HOW OFTEN WILL I NEED A TOUCH-UP?

This is dependent on skin type , age, aftercare and lifestyle .

Oilier skin types tend to loose pigment quicker as the high oil content in the skin expels pigment at a faster rate than a drier skin type.

People who frequently suntan loose pigment faster, it is always advised to wear a good sunscreen to protect your permanent make up .

If you go for regular facials, chemical peels or use retinol or any rejuvenating products this will contribute to earlier fading of pigment as the skin sheds more often .

Younger skin rejuvenates faster than mature drier skin , younger clients tend to need more frequent touch-ups.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT COLOUR TO CHOOSE?

The colour chosen will be dependent on your skin tone , undertone and hair colour, your undertone (warm, neutral, cool) will determine what pigment will be used to give you the best natural looking results .

Important note:

If you are blond and and you prefer darker eyebrows and fill them in regularly, it is better advised to go with a medium range brown and continue to tint your blond eyebrow hairs to evenly match the color you desire.

WILL I STILL NEED TO WAX, TINT, OR THREAD MY BROWS AFTER HAVING PERMANENT MAKE UP DONE?

Yes, your natural eyebrow hairs will still grow as normal and need regular maintenance to keep them neat.
